Finding And Following Your Passion Is A Beautiful Thing.
Shereen Mroueh is an adventurer and photographer who has captured images in more than 50 countries. When she was young, she would draw or paint or build. As she got older, she fell in love with sculpting, then finally landed on film and photography. She had no idea how she would make a career out of it, but she knew her dream (like most photographers) was to shoot for National Geographic and travel the world and experience new cultures and lands.
As a traveller, she was a 'late bloomer.' Her first flight at the age of 24 brought her to Costa Rica with an adventure travel company called G Adventures. She was hooked. Two years later, she was shooting for them, and she been lucky enough to be sent to every continent. The magic of 'finding the shot' has brought her all over the world.
"Life is not about how many breaths you take but how many times life takes your breath away. "
Adventuring can be rather demanding on the body. For Shereen, moderation is the key to healthy living. "I think it's ok to enjoy yourself and your favourite foods (chocolate is my weakness!) but to balance it out with exercise is necessary. I think too often people are too hard on themselves, which I believe also has a huge negative impact on health. Balance is everything!"
Looking for natural remedies is also important. "When it comes to my appearance and my skin, I want to use the most natural products possible. I want to know what's going on my skin and most likely if I can't pronounce it, then it can't be that good. I love to use Aloe Vera, for example. I find I get the best results that way, and I feel confident using it."
Harsh environments, weather, airplanes and hopping time zones can wreak havoc on the skin, but Shereen takes it in stride. "I'm pretty conscious about my skin and ageing, and I try my best to keep a steady regime wherever I am. For me, consistency is so important for the best results."

Her go-to for her travel bag is Vital Facecare Take your Time Wrinkle defence. She”s always been a huge fan of the natural properties of Aloe Vera and when she uses this product gives her the feeling of a pure Aloe Vera gel. 'I love the way it makes my face feel. I love the texture and how hydrated my skin feels after using it. The elements can be harsh on your face while travelling, but this is the one I take with me every time!"
And she would know 'harsh.' One of Shereen's favourite photographs was taken in Antarctica in December when there are 22 hours of daylight and sunset lasts about 3 hours. For a photographer chasing 'golden hour' (the best time to shoot) this was a dream come true. She says, "We were camping on Ronge Island and stayed up till 3 am. I couldn't stop shooting, so I took my sleeping bag out of the tent to sleep beneath the mountains, along the ocean in this gorgeous place. As I lay there, I heard snow crunching. I turned to see a lone penguin walking along the shore, then settle in the snow close by. I grabbed my camera and captured the peaceful moment we both shared under the pink sky."
We are so excited to welcome Shereen as a Vital ambassador. We can all learn so much from her adventurous spirit and her eye for uncovering the beauty we sometimes miss. In a world obsessed with selfies and self-promotion, Shereen offers a glimpse of what you see when you look outside yourself. "I'm looking to capture found moments in the world. I want people to be inspired enough to get up and find their own adventure, to get out of their comfort zone and be curious."
When asked, "what does beauty mean to you?" Shereen had this to say. "Beauty, to me, means feeling confident and happy in your own skin. When you can walk into a room and feel comfortable with yourself and radiate. We all have flaws, but it's how you hold yourself and accept them."
"To me, beauty is when you can walk into a room and feel comfortable with yourself and radiate."
For her, it comes down to this. "Life is not about how many breaths you take but how many times life takes your breath away. I think it's important never to forget the feeling of wonder and to make new connections with people around the world."To learn more about Shereen Mroueh, follow her journey @Shereenmroueh
